Sara Lee and sustainability

Sara Lee Corporation has a worldwide vision on sustainability that reads: "We are committed to promoting wellness and nutrition, supporting our communities and protecting our planet in a manner consistent with our core values.''

Sara Lee Corporation is the third biggest coffee roaster worldwide and is the main sponsor of the DE Foundation since its inception in 2002. The company is also the world largest buyer of UTZ Certified coffee and has started to buy certified tea in 2009. Its ambition is to make all its blends fully sustainable.

Projects

To further sustainability of mainstream coffee & tea, DE Foundation executes projects all around the globe, working in particular with small-scale producers.

Annual Report

DE Foundation is fully sponsored by Sara Lee’s Coffee and Tea division. As a non-profit organisation, the foundation receives an annual donation of € 1.2 million. This money is spent on DE Foundation projects in accordance with the strategy agreed upon by the DE Foundation Board.
