Sustainable coffee and tea production means working towards improving environmental, social and economic conditions. Protecting and improving the natural environment are fundamental, as well as safeguarding the labour rights and health of local communities. From an economic point of view, sustainable agriculture should be productive, efficient and competitive.
To further sustainability of mainstream coffee & tea, DE Foundation executes projects all around the globe, working in particular with small-scale producers.
The DE Foundation was established by Sara Lee in 2002 as an independent foundation.The Board comprises of 5 members, all of whom have a passion for sustainability.
