The DE Foundation was established by Sara Lee in November 2002 as an independent foundation. The international Coffee and Tea division of Sara Lee continues to be the primary donor.
The goal of the DE Foundation is to further the sustainability of mainstream coffee and tea; working in particular with small-scale producers. This is done through local projects.

Since its inception in 2002, the DE Foundation has reached over 21,000 coffee farms and over 130,000 people in communities around the world.
The DE Foundation works to further sustainability in mainstream coffee and tea, working in particular with small-scale producers. In 3-5 years projects we work to improve the quality of their produce, support the implementation of sustainable practices and create market access with better prices.
